Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

feministI would like to leave a quote, from one of the most influential feminists out there: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. For those of you who might not be familiar with her, she has written several critically acclaimed books, including Americanah, which earned a spot as one of the New York Times Top 10 Books of the Year, her Tedx Talk about feminism has been viewed over 2.3 million times on YouTube alone, and she is famously quoted in one of Beyoncé’s songs, which helped her influence sky-rocket. Her impact stretches far and wide as a champion for women’s rights. She states what it means to be a feminist eloquently:

“For me, feminism is about justice. I’m a feminist because I want to live in a world that is more just. I’m a feminist because I want to live in a world where a woman is never told that she can or cannot or should or should not do anything because she is a woman. I want to live in a world where men and women are happier. Where they are not constrained by gender roles. I want to live in a world where men and women are truly equal. And that’s why I’m a feminist….Mostly, I hope very soon that one day we will not need to be feminists. Because we will live in a world that is truly just and equal.”
