The video (below) from the critically acclaimed documentary Miss Representation will probably infuriate you. The video compiles derogatory comments the media spouts about women. It is uncomfortable to be bombarded by comments and images that hyper sexualize and demean women’s humanly worth. And yet, we’re surrounded by it everyday and we might not even take notice, even though the comments and images are impacting us. Creepy huh?

As Gloria Steinem famously said:

“The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off.”

This is a great compilation of information from Miss Representation. We need more movies like this to give us a reality check and show us what we are consuming every day and how it is reaching into our lives. Do you think someday the media will stop throwing women under the bus? I sure hope so.
